Mary Black started at Angus Productions Inc. (API) as a paste-up artist in January 1985. She has since moved into the position of editorial artist. As an editorial artist, Black is responsible for editorial layout in the Angus Journal. She is also the designer of special projects such as the Sire Evaluation Report and the American Angus Association Annual Report.

She holds a bachelor of arts from Saint Mary's College in Leavenworth, Ks. Before coming to API, she worked as an artist in the silk screening field.

Black's layouts have received many awards from the Livestock Publications Council (LPC), including a first place on an editorial layout.

Black and her husband, Aaron, live in St. Joseph, Mo. They have one son, Michael.
