Melinda R. Cordell came on board as full time proofreader in the Special Services department in August 2006. She is responsible for proofreading sale catalogs, brochures, postcards, newsletters, stall cards and flyers produced by that department. Melinda joined the API team bringing a strong background in writing. Her articles and stories have appeared in Organic Gardening, The Horn Book, Cricket, Cicada, Read and Highlights. She received a BS in Horticulture from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville and has 11 hours toward an MA in English.

Melinda worked for six years for St. Joseph Parks and Recreation as the city horticulturist, and for nine years as a gardening columnist for the St. Joseph News-Press. Melinda lives with husband, Brad, and daughter, Sophie, in Savannah, MO.
