Angus Productions Inc. (API) is a for-profit subsidiary
of the American Angus Association. Though we're more
commonly recognized as the Angus Journal staff, the
API staff coordinates a variety of publication and
communication services to benefit the American Angus
Association, Angus breeders and their customers. Office
operations are coordinated with the efforts of 12
regional managers who represent the Angus Journal
in designated territories throughout the United States
and Canada.
Angus Journal
The Angus Journal is our flagship publication. Started
in 1919, it was purchased in July 1979 by the Association.
With a mailed circulation of 22,500, the award-winning
monthly magazine serves as the breed's official publication
and the voice of the Angus industry. Through the Angus
Journal, we strive to serve all members of the Association
-- be they breed founders or new members, owners of two-cow
herds or owners of 2,000.
The Angus Journal offers readers editorial content
ranging from basic how-to articles to in-depth reports
on cutting-edge technologies. We feature profiles
on Angus breeders, stories on production and management
techniques to improve profitability, news and events
from Association departments and producer-related
information from the Certified Angus Beef (CAB) Program.
The advertising staff can offer any level of assistance
in developing advertisements to promote Angus herds --
from those sent in camera-ready to helping producers develop
ads from scratch.
Angus Beef Bulletin
Targeted to commercial customers of Angus genetics,
the Angus Beef Bulletin serves as a link between Angus
breeders, the Association and current and potential
Angus buyers. It represents the commitment of the
Association and API to achieve one of the Association's
major long-range goals -- to develop additional programs
to improve relations with commercial producers.
Now in its 14th year of publication, the Bulletin
changed its look and content in 1998 as API assumed
responsibility for the editorial content of the tabloid-sized
magazine. With a complete redesign and newsprint upgrade,
the Bulletin is now mailed free of charge to qualified
nonmember bull buyers and by subscription to members,
for a total circulation of more than 63,000.
Publication frequency has been increased to four times
a year to make the Angus Beef Bulletin a more timely
vehicle for advertising bull sales. Each issue also
contains a listing of Angus sales and events known
to the API staff.
Editorial content has been increased in quantity and
quality and includes profiles on cattlemen and beef
industry leaders, Association-related news and information,
updates from the CAB Program and production and management
information to help commercial cattlemen benefit from
Angus genetics. Our staff is available to help create
and design Bulletin ads. Four ad sizes are available.
Special Services
Just as the name implies, API's Special Services Department
was established to assist Association members with their
promotion needs. Featured services include the creation
of custom sale books, brochures and newsletters. All sale
reports are collected and summarized through the Special
Services Department.
Web Marketing
The newest API department, Web Marketing, was established
to further help Angus breeders promote their cattle.
With the use of the Internet, global marketing is
possible.
Services currently provided by the department include
Web site design for producers and state and regional
associations, online sale books, banner ads on the
Angus Journal and Angus Beef Bulletin home pages and
new online editorial features. In the future look
for online classifieds, chat rooms and live coverage
of events.
